College Students Head Back To School After Winter Break

I had 2 friends forward this funny article from the Chicago Tribune regarding the migration of the college student back to school after enjoying the winter break at home- Kids home on college break: Homo studentus universitatus season is winding to a close. It is a funny read!

Our daughter went back to school almost 2 weeks ago after getting very comfortable at home with no major major duties except for a few babysitting jobs. At CU Boulder, parents get regular school emails letting us know what's coming up and a heads up on what to expect with our students at different times throughout the year. Right after the new semester started the update told us not to be surprised if our returning student might have a bout of homesickness or seasonal depression after being home for a nice long winter break and are back to school with new classes. I was glad to have read this when I got an email from our daughter indicating she had a feeling of homesickness after being back a few days. Fortunately it was short lived for her and by the weekend she was back to herself, but I was happy to be forewarned as I did not expect this after having such an easy fall transition. It is hard to believe the school year is already half over.
